Eric Moutz Bio

Eric J. Moutz is a Colorado trial lawyer, hearing officer, and mediator with more than 25 years of experience representing businesses, professionals, and individuals in complex commercial litigation, business disputes, and high-stakes civil matters. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation for strategic advocacy, practical problem-solving, and professionalism.

Biography

Eric earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School and his Bachelor of Arts, with highest honors, from Ohio Northern University. While at Michigan Law, Eric won the United States National Championship in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, received an Award of Excellence in the Oral Advocacy Program, and served as an Assistant Editor of the Michigan Journal of Law Reform. During law school, he clerked for the Ohio Fifth District Court of Appeals in Canton, Ohio. Eric has been quoted by various news sources as an authority on legal issues, has taught continuing legal education courses, and has been published on issues of professional ethics, corporate governance, and business litigation.

Over the course of his career, Eric has represented clients in a broad range of complex civil and commercial litigation matters, including contract disputes, partnership and shareholder disputes, securities fraud, construction defect litigation, real estate disputes, employment litigation, and corporate governance issues. He has also represented clients in regulatory investigations and subpoena matters before the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Colorado Division of Securities, the Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division, and other state and local administrative agencies. Mediation and Arbitration Experience

Eric has extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution, having spent hundreds of hours serving as both a mediator and an advocate in mediation proceedings. He has also volunteered as a mediator for Colorado’s 20th Judicial District and performs select work with the Colorado Judicial Branch Office of Dispute Resolution. Eric has completed more than 200 hours of ADR training, including the Colorado Bar Association’s 40-hour mediator training. Recognition and Commnity Involvement

He is admitted to practice in the State of Colorado, the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Eric volunteers as legal counsel for victims of domestic violence and has served as a volunteer board member for Boulder County and as county legal counsel for the Boulder County Democratic Party.
