Eric J. Moutz

Eric J. Moutz is a Colorado trial lawyer and mediator with more than 25 years of experience representing businesses, professionals, and individuals in complex commercial litigation, business disputes, and high-stakes civil matters. Throughout his career, he has built a reputation for strategic advocacy, practical problem-solving, and effective representation in cases involving significant financial and reputational risk.

Eric earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of Michigan Law School and his Bachelor of Arts, with highest honors, from Ohio Northern University. While at Michigan Law, he was a member of the team that won the National Championship in the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, received the Award of Excellence in the Oral Advocacy Program, and served as an Assistant Editor of the Michigan Journal of Law Reform. During law school, he clerked for the Ohio Fifth District Court of Appeals in Canton, Ohio.

Over the course of his career, Eric has represented clients in a broad range of complex civil and commercial litigation matters, including contract disputes, partnership and shareholder disputes, securities fraud, construction defect litigation, real estate disputes, employment litigation, and corporate governance issues. He has also represented clients in regulatory investigations and subpoena matters before the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Colorado Division of Securities, the Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division, and other state and local administrative agencies. Eric has extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution, having spent hundreds of hours serving as both a mediator and an advocate in mediation proceedings. He has volunteered as a mediator for Colorado’s 20th Judicial District and performs select work with the Colorado Judicial Branch Office of Dispute Resolution. He has completed more than 200 hours of ADR training, including the Colorado Bar Association’s 40-hour mediator training and numerous advanced subject-matter programs.

Eric has been selected to Colorado Super Lawyers for Litigation for six consecutive years and has earned Martindale-Hubbell’s highest 5.0/5 Peer and Client ratings. He is admitted to practice in the State of Colorado, the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
